Learn how to properly prepare for and plan hiking adventures for both day hikes and overnight backpacks. Local outdoors author and Seattle Times columnist, Dan A. Nelson will share detailed information on the equipment you'll need, basic hiking skills, and how to get into "trail condition." You'll also receive numerous destination recommendations (both specific route recommendations and general regional suggestions).
Take part in hands-on classroom activities, including lessons on how to properly adjust a backpack for a secure, comfortable fit; where and how to set up camps and instruction on proper boot fitting and adjustments.
