Become a Registered Student Organization (RSO)
Process for Registration
- A RSO must have at least 5 officers (UW Bothell students) on file with the Office of Student Life.
- A RSO must have a full-time faculty or staff member willing to be your advisor .
- Advisors must fill out the advisor confirmation form/training sign up. You are responsible for finding your own RSO advisor.
- A updated RSO Constitution or approved equivalent, must be submitted from each student organization and updated each year.
- Fill out the on-line registration form and submit your Constitution/By-Laws.
- ALL 5 officers are REQUIRED to attend a 1 hour officer training.
- Student Life will email your group will an official confirmation notice after all of the requirements have been met.
All of these requirements must be met prior to a group becoming an Registered Student Organization (RSO). No exceptions will be made.
Please note: Officer training will only be offered at the beginning of each quarter. If officers do not complete the fall training the group will not be eligible to be recognized until the following quarter. Make up officer training sessions will not be granted.
Note: All new club requests must be made by a current student club officer, not a club advisor.
Starting New Group
To start a new RSO follow the process outlined above. Groups may submit information to become a new club during the beginning of each quarter. Please check the student organizations website for specific deadlines and dates.
Re-starting an Inactive Group
In general the process is the same to register an inactive group as mentioned above. If you are interested in being a officer and re-starting an inactive group please email studentlife@uwb.edu, with your contact information along with information about the group name. Student Life will schedule an appointment with a staff member that will help you to start devising a plan for group recruitment, find additional officers, find an advisor and start the writing a constitution.
The overall process is the same to register an inactive group .
