HEROs

"Our mission as a team of Health Educators Reaching Out is to provide outreach and prevention programming that allows students to make positive and educated decisions about their overall health that will last a lifetime. Through programming, information sessions, availability, and openness, we meet the needs of the campus by providing support and awareness on nutrition and physical activity, mental health, sexual health, sexual assault, alcohol and other drugs, and other wellness topics."

The Wellness Peer Educator program is a new key component added to the University of Washington Bothell to deliver health and wellness programming to students on campus and in the residence halls. The HERO's (Health Educators Reaching Out) plan events, facilitate workshops, and create various resources, campaigns and outreach opportunities for students to improve their health and well-being. Throughout

the summer, the HEROs received intensive training on several topics including:

- mental and intellectual health
- emotional health

- sexual assault/abuse  and sexual health
- alcohol and other drugs
- physical activity
- nutrition

We have become Certified Peer Educators through the BACCHUS Network and every year participate in the BACCHUS Regional Conference where we interact and come together with Peer Health Educators nation-wide for programming ideas and learning new ways to provide campuses with the top health and wellness education.
