Meet the Board

ASUWB Elected Officers for 2011-2012

Freddie Hensen - ASUWB President

"As Associated Student President, I serve to strengthen our voice as students. I work with UWB administration, government, local businesses, community partners, student groups and individual students to retain what we value most at UW Bothell, dissolve what does not serve us, and advocate for a positve change. As UWB students, we have the incredible and uncommon opportunity to shape our experience and the campus itself by living the core prcincipals that make us so excellent: diversity, growth, community, resourcefullness, sustainability, innovation, and student-centeredness. We have the fantastic advantage of being part of an internationally esteemed university with the individualized attention available only to those who pay for a small private school education; we have the best of both worlds at UW Bothell and for this reason, we are so exceptional.

I believe that improving environmental policy will be the catalyst to curing global social disorders; such as poverty and illness and for this reason I am pursuing a degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Public Policy. I plan to attend UW Law in the fall of 2012 with a concentration in Environmental and Public Interest Law. I will bring this passuion to fight on behalf of University of Washington Bothell students against all who oppose us or threaten our fellowship as well as in moving us towards a future of even greater excellence."

Eric Chan - Vice President

"My name is Eric Chan and I am a senior majoring in Business Administration with a triple concentration in Finance, Marketing, and Technology Innovation Managment. I am proud to be a part of the third freshmen class and be a part of the growth that this campus has experienced. My hobbies include being active in the various sprots clubs on campus and improving myself in the business field.

As the ASUWB Vice President, throughout the year I will be working with the city of Bothell and surrounding cities in improving the quality of student life. I will also be working on different projects throughout the year. A goal of mine is to increase the amount of student discounts available and increase the transparency by getting more students involved. So if you want to become involved and gain valuable experiencem let me know!"

Mathew Lam - Director of Public Relations

"I am in my third year almost a senior after winter quarter. I started my undergrad as a freshmen at UW Bothell. I entered the Biology program in spring 2011. I hold two positions in Student life, one as Director of PR for ASUWB and another as a HERO (Health Educator Reaching Out) under Recreation and Welness.

As Director of Public Relations, I work with ASUWB to be as transparent to the student body and admininstration as best as possible. From scheduling meetings, updating all marketing boards, working with online and publish media, I communicate events, information, changes, anything that can change the campus to students. I will be working continuously to make sure that we can reach out and open conversations between ASUWB to students and vice versa. One of my goals this year, is to grease the merketing options ASUWB uses, can use, and wil be using, including constant marketing."

Shahin Mortazavi - Director of
Business and Government Relations

Ty Edwards - Director of Student Advocacy

"As the Director of Student Advocacy, I will be organizing and facilitating monthly campus forums on issues and concerns of general interest to the student body through Husky Huddles, Town Hall Meetings, and surveys. I will also follow up with the appropriate administration, faculty, and staff. I work very closely with the Freshmen Council and the Graduate Student Council and serve as liaison between the councils and ASUWB. I will be working diligently to advocate for UWB students as well as provide opportunities for your voices to be heard. My goal is to help fulfill the needs of the students through hard work, passion, dedication, and perseverance."
