This research interest group explores scholarly writing practices, including our own, related to media and communication studies. Some of the issues that will be explored are disciplinary nuances, audiences and publics, scholarly genres, and publication strategies.
We meet several times throughout the year—both in person and via video conferencing—to share our research writing, explore publication venues, and provide critique and encouragement. As we do so, we continue to explore the diverse theoretical, methodological, and epistemological approaches found within our field of Media and Communications. We make connections about what we learn about the field through our publishing and reading with our teaching, including teaching the core MCS course.
