My name is Shelby Lubchuk. I am a senior majoring in Media and Communication Studies. I was a running start student who transferred from Skagit Valley College with my AA degree. I grew up on a farm on Whidbey Island in a small town called Clinton.
I have been involved with 4-H, showing both in the dog and horse divisions, for over nine years. I currently volunteer at a nonprofit organization called Kids First, which works to serve the needs of local foster children. Besides being an Orientation Leader, I also work as a nursery attendant at the Langley United Methodist Church. Here at UW Bothell, I am a proud member of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society, the Golden Key International Honour Society, and HonorSociety.org.
My favorite thing about UW Bothell is the warm and inviting atmosphere. I appreciate the small class sizes, which allow students to get to know their professors and build meaningful friendships with their classmates. The professors here take interest and genuinely care about each and every student. They go out of their way to make sure students are able to reach their full potential. As a first year student, I wish I would have been less hesitant to ask for help and take advantage of all the amazing resources this school has to offer.
If you ever have a question or find yourself in need of help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can hardly wait to meet all of my new students and help them have a positive transition into life at UW Bothell. See you at orientation!
