What’s good Huskies?
My name is Leah Shin and I am incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to be your Orientation Leader during the 2016-2017 school year. I can’t wait to meet you all. I am looking forward to formally welcoming you to the dawg pack!
As practically a life-long Washingtonian and more specifically, living nine years in the City of Bothell, I assert my dominance by stepping in puddles with rain boots, appreciate the beauty of the PNW, and understand that being a Husky is truly more than a title. I believe wholeheartedly, that if you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room. It is the opportunity we have every day as a UWB Huskies to be surrounded by such inspirational role models and extraordinary peers.
I will be a sophomore this upcoming school year on track to double major in Business Marketing and Informatics with a minor in Entrepreneurship. During my first year on-campus I have been actively involved with the Associated Students of the University of Washington Bothell (ASUWB) as elected First-Year Senator, pursing entrepreneurial projects such as developing a startup and phone app to promote diversity/inclusion with T-Mobile, and competing in numerous consulting business case competitions to find solutions to real world problems (my favorite thus far relates to Global Health issues).
My first year at UWB I came in wandering lost, not knowing what to expect. Yet, I wish I’d known from the very first day that everything will be okay. It’s about embracing who you and then taking advantage of the boundless amount of opportunities offered. You’ll see me mainly on the 2nd or 3rd floors in the library flipping through textbooks while jamming out to Angus and Julia Stone or in the ARC-ILO working on ways to improve the campus as whole (during my breaks of course squeezing in some time to watch Casey Neistat on YouTube).
I’m here not only as your resource but as someone who is rooting for you to have the best first year yet! Let’s do this together!
