Orientation Leaders

Our Orientation Leaders  are here  to help you navigate and direct you to the many resources on campus that are there to ease the path to your success. You’ll meet many of them during your orientation session, and the others will be at the front Welcome Desk in UW1 throughout the year to help guide you and answer any question you might have. Stop by to say hi and get to know the friendly faces who are here to help you.

Why did you choose UW Bothell?

I chose UWB because the quality of the classes is amazing and there is an added bonus of class sizes being smaller, which means there are more resources available for students. I also wanted to come to UWB because the campus is beautiful and the people on campus are very kind and supportive, and I really value the positive and open environment that I found here. I also like the crows on campus.

  • Clubs/Orgs: Intramural Sports and OTP
  • Hometown: Indonesia

Why did you choose UWB?

I chose to attend UW Bothell because the classes are incredibly interactive and engaging. The community is also very friendly and diverse, which makes it feel like a home away from home.

What do you enjoy most about being an Orientation Leader?

When I first signed up for this job, I had no clue what I’d be doing. When I started to learn more and more about what I’d actually be doing, it scared me greatly. This job has been something that challenges me and that’s what I enjoy the most about it! It’s way out of my comfort zone. However, I’ve felt myself growing and developing as a person, figuring out who I really am, and that is all thanks to the help of my generous coworkers and supervisors. I hope that I can inspire the new students I meet during the orientation process to undertake this scary journey with me. It’s worth it.

Michael Schwartz (he/him)

  • Email: otp@uw.edu
  • Year: Senior
  • Major: Society, Ethics and human behavior
  •  Clubs/Orgs: OTP
  • Hometown: Coupeville, Washington

Why did you choose UWB?

I really like the location and how close I am to places like Woodinville, Lynnwood and Seattle. I also really like the smaller and more familiar class sizes. I felt I would get a more personal experience here than at larger campuses and plus, everything is so close together so it’s pretty easy to get around quickly!

What do you enjoy most about being an Orientation Leader?

I consider myself a people-person so I really enjoy meeting and working with groups of new people! And I love getting to be the first person new students meet and the one to introduce them to the campus!
