Orientation Leader

Alexander

Hi, Huskies!

My name is Alexander Lefort (but you can call me Alex) and I am one of the Orientation Leaders here. I am so very excited to work with all of you! First, I thought it'd be nice to let you all know a bit more about me.

As a single child, I was born in Norfolk, Virginia, into a military family where both of my parents carried carriers in the Navy, and actually met there! Since then, we've moved to several cities in several states, and finally ended up here, in Bothell. Through the time in the military and in the various places, we've met so many wonderful and supportive people. Many of these people still support me today in my passions.

From a very young age, I have always been fascinated by nature; More specifically, I'm interested in bugs and insects. I am following this passion in the Biology program in UW Bothell. I say I love insects above, but I have also owned all manner of exotic pets, have worked in an exotic animal hospital, have helped in countless gardening excursions, and am taken by just about any aspect of nature!

I am also heavily interested in Japanese culture (and just culture in general)! I have been taking the language ever since high school and am currently a fourth year student in college in it. I may not be fluent, but I am certainly trying! This avid interest in the culture and language has driven me to pursue studying abroad in Japan for my graduate program!

Being on the UW, Bothell campus has been a true treat for me, as I have had so many opportunities to get involved. As I've stated before, I am currently an Orientation Leader, but am also a part of our Club Council, participating in undergraduate research, and even enjoying some intramural soccer!

I am very passionate about our campus, so if you have any questions about how to get involved, I would be happy to direct you to who to talk to! Once again, I am very excited to finally meet you all and work with you through this coming year!

Sincerely,

-Alexander Lefort
