Howie invests in UW Bothell students

Chef John Howie, owner of the new Beardslee Public House in Bothell, presented UW Bothell with a $2,880 donation for the student scholarship fund this week. Known for his charitable work in the local and national community, Howie held a fundraiser in August and donated a portion of the proceeds to UW Bothell students.

Vice Chancellor Susan Jeffords and several current and former students were on hand for the check presentation to thank Howie for his generosity, which will go a long way. About 60 percent of UW Bothell students receive financial aid. Through our leading-edge educational experience, many of our undergraduate and graduate students engage with the community as they work to solve real-world problems and improve the lives of citizens throughout the Puget Sound. The famed chef’s donation will also have a long-term economic impact on the state as nine out of 10 UW Bothell alumni live and work in the state of Washington.
