The Student Success Center

On January 16, the University of Washington Bothell will open the Student Success Center, a new home for some of UW Bothell’s exceptional student resources.

“The Student Success Center is an improved model for student services in that it provides a unified, cross-unit space that will help with the nuts and bolts of student concerns, but also enable an easier flow between students and staff,” explains Gray Kochhar-Lindgren, Associate Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Learning.

The center itself will consist of a number of programs career services; community based learning & research; the first year and pre-major programs & advising (CUSP); disability resources for students; global initiatives & study abroad; undergraduate research; student leadership, diversity, and engagement projects.

“I’m really excited about the center,” says Rebecca Ducharme, a global studies student. “Having all the resources in one spot will make things faster, and I think it will increase the likelihood of students taking advantage of things like Study Abroad and undergraduate research.”

Over the last few years, the campus has been the site of major expansion that has brought about the reorganization and relocation of a number of offices to different parts of the campus. The staff behind the Student Success Center recognized these changes as an opportunity to reconfigure one aspect of the UW Bothell student experience by bringing a number of key resources together into a single space.

Kochhar-Lindgren says one of the many benefits of center is that most students will be able to get a quicker response to most questions.

The Student Success Center will be having a launch party and open house on January 16 from 11 a.m. to noon. It is located in UW1-160.
