BOTHELL, Wash. – UW Bothell honored Woodinville’s Heather Griffin and Issaquah’s Sean Alley at its commencement ceremonies June 12. Griffin received the President’s Medal. Alley received the Chancellor’s Medal.
President’s Medalist Heather Griffin graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Griffin received the medal from UW President Phyllis Wise.
The eleven-year journey that Griffin took to get her degree was marked with personal sacrifice and a high level of performance. Her grade point average of 3.99 demonstrates that performance.
Chancellor’s Medalist Sean Alley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies. Alley received the medal from UW Bothell Chancellor Kenyon Chan.
Raised in the greater Puget Sound area, Alley enlisted in the Navy, where he became an operations specialist and surface search and rescue swimmer. Upon completing his military service and entering UW Bothell, Alley continued his commitment to his fellow servicemen and servicewomen.
While pursuing his degree, Alley became an advocate for veteran students. Among his key achievements were the creation of the UW Bothell Student Veteran’s Association, and the UW Bothell “Challenge Coin,” an honorary medallion awarded to each of our graduating veterans.
