UW Bothell ranked among top graduate schools

The University of Washington Bothell has been ranked among the nation’s top graduate schools for 2017 by graduateprograms.com.

The education research publisher lists UW Bothell fifth in computer science, 10th in accounting and 13th in business master’s degrees.

The ratings are based on student feedback and represent the result of 57,000 student reviews and ratings from more than 1,600 colleges nationally, including 108 from UW Bothell. For a ranking, at least 10 students from a major must have submitted feedback, and graduateprograms.com considers only regionally or nationally accredited, nonprofit institutions for its rankings.

Now in its 20th year at UW Bothell, the computing and software systems program is now located in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. It offers the Master of Science in computer science and software engineering (MSCSSE) degree, designed to accommodate the needs of working professionals. The school also offers the high-demand Master of Science in cyber security engineering.

“This ranking reflects the close, collaborative mentoring relationships that UW Bothell students can build with top-notch faculty researchers and excellent, supportive staff,” says Michael Stiber, CSS faculty and associate dean of research and graduate studies for STEM. “Computing and software systems students are immersed in a culture that pushes the state of the art in computer science, software engineering and cybersecurity. They rapidly become valuable contributors to research projects and develop the depth and breadth of knowledge that launches them on highly successful careers as senior computing professionals.”

The UW Bothell School of Business offers the MBA and the Master of Science in accounting to advance careers for entrepreneurial and commercially engaged students.

“The UW Bothell MBA programs inspire business excellence through relevant and rigorous curriculum, experiential learning and connections to the business community,” said Sandeep Krishnamurthy, professor and dean.

UW Bothell also received an overall rating of 4.12 out of 5 from University respondents to graduateprograms.com. Ninety-six percent recommended the University. These overall ratings are based on quality of instruction, rigor of curriculum, satisfaction with degree, career advising, student diversity, networking opportunities, student financial services and campus safety.
