Earth Day: Information and action

University of Washington Bothell students have been celebrating the planet every day this week with events leading up to Friday’s Earth Day.

Visible activities heat up Wednesday when tables outside the bookstore feature information from transit, farm and garden groups and other agencies. Associate Professor Warren Gold and outdoor wellness leader Kramer Canup are leading tours of the wetlands and Sarah Simonds Green Conservatory.

The information fair continues Thursday with campus sustainability tours starting at Mobius Hall. You can join the introduction to sustainable practices class on the lawn between UW1 and UW2 for the annual garbage sort, sifting through the landfill waste from UW Bothell and Cascadia College and identifying what could be recycled or composted.

Earth Day on Friday is observed with a fun fair on the sports fields with art projects, games and the making of seed bombs. And along the bike path by the boardwalk, students can join outdoor wellness leaders and a Facilities Services crew in planting trees.

A full list of Earth Day activities and plus other information is available on the Environment Sustainability website.
