BOTHELL, Wash. - University of Washington Bothell Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan Jeffords has announced Sandeep Krishnamurthy as incoming Director of the Business Program. Said Jeffords, "Sandeep has established a nationally-recognized and innovative record of scholarship, teaching and service...I know that the Business Program will benefit from his expertise and exceptional leadership."
As Director of the Business Program, Krishnamurthy will oversee the Business Program and its faculty and staff. The Business Program is currently home to about 500 undergraduate and 80 MBA students and offers a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an accounting option and concentrations in Finance, Management, MIS, Marketing, and, Technology & Innovation Management. As a recognized leader in graduate business education, it offers a Technology MBA at its Bothell campus and a Leadership MBA offsite in Bellevue. The Program features more than 25 faculty including nationally recognized scholars and researchers and Executive-in-Residence Jim Donald, former CEO of Starbucks. It also houses the Business Development Center which provides services to businesses in the Sno-King region.
"We want to be one of the great business schools in the country," Krishnamurthy said, "Our goal is to create a new standard of excellence in Business education by building a robust and meaningful partnership between academia, business and community college colleagues. We want to serve students through a variety of innovative degree programs and certificates and my door is open to anyone who wants to help us scale new heights."
Krishnamurthy is currently the Associate Director of Graduate Programs for the Business Program. He is the editor of Contemporary Research in E-Marketing, Volumes 1 and 2 and authored E-Commerce Management: Text and Cases. A well-published author himself, he is Book Review Editor for the Journal of Marketing and his works have appeared widely in print and online publications. Prior to his career in education, he served as a marketing executive for Reliance Industries Limited, India's largest company.
Krishnamurthy received his B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India, his M.B.A. from XLRI, Jamshedpur, India, and his Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Arizona. He is a member of INFORMS, American Marketing Association, American Economic Association and the Association of Internet Researchers.
Krishnamurthy will assume the position of Program Director on July 1, replacing outgoing Director Steve Holland. Holland served in the role with distinction from 2002-present and will rejoin the faculty in a teaching role in Fall 2010 after a sabbatical.
