Master of Nursing

Degree Requirements

Master of Nursing students must take the following courses in the curriculum:

  • B NURS 501: Contemporary Issues in Advanced Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • B NURS 504: Disparity and Social Justice in Health Care (3 credits)
  • B NURS 505: Pathway Planning, Practicum & Portfolio online introduction (2 credits)
  • B NURS 505: Pathway Planning, Practicum & Portfolio guided independent study (1-2 credits per quarter per faculty approved plan)
  • BNURS 506:  Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Physical Assessment (3 credits) OR BNURS 530
  • B NURS 508: Ethics and Aesthetics (3 credits)
  • B NURS 520: Translational Research I:  Healthcare Practice (3 credits)
  • B NURS 522: Translational Research II: Patient Safety, Quality Improvement and Evaluation Processes (3 credits)
  • B NURS 525: Health Care Systems Leadership for Advanced Nursing (3 credits)
  • B NURS 530: Advanced Practice Management and Administration in Healthcare Organizations (3 credits) OR BNURS 506
  • B NURS 585: Policy and Civic Engagement for Health & Health Equity (3 credits)
  • Electives (12 credits)
  • B NURS 598: Scholarly Project (3-6 credits) may be used as elective credits

MN students must also satisfy all UW Graduate School Requirements.
