The MFA begins each academic year with a mini conference that enables graduate students to acquaint themselves with the MFA faculty as well as other writers invited to UW Bothell to participate in this event. Through this convergence of established writers and writing students, we intend to create an active community of writers and writing discussions that extend well beyond our academic setting and this initial gathering.
The 2014 Fall Convergence focuses on liveness as the state or quality of being alive, or live. Details about the 2014 Convergence are hosted here. Learn more about the 2013 Fall Convergence on Poetics or the 2012 Fall Convergence that launched the UW Bothell MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics and listen to a sample of writer / artist performances.
The academic year concludes with a spring festival meant to showcase faculty and student work. During this event, MFA degree candidates will read, show, and perform work from their thesis. Select guest writers will be invited in to provide commentary on UW Bothell creative writing and to share their own work.
