Off-Campus Access

Off-Campus Access (Connecting From Home)

Click here for a 3 minute video tutorial

The off-campus proxy service allows current UW and Cascadia students, staff and faculty to access "UW restricted" resources, such as library databases, from off-campus. Access to any of these resources from campus (including offices, classrooms, the Campus Library & Media Center and other spaces) will not be affected.

Access to this service will require a UWNetID. If you do not yet have a UWNetID, please follow the appropriate link below.

Cascadia - create a UWNetID UWB - create a UWNetID

To start a session with the new proxy, click on the "Off-Campus Access" link in the upper right corner of most Campus Library and other UW Libraries web pages. This proxy service requires that you always start a session to gain access to restricted resources and your browser should have cookies enabled. If you fall out of the offcampus proxy space, and no longer see the special url or the "Off-Campus Access Granted" message, then click on the "Off-Campus Access" link again.

Please note this service is not required for off-campus access to the UW Libraries Catalog. Only access to those resources with the "UW restricted" icon will be affected.

For more information about this service please visit the Off-Campus Proxy FAQ.

Tools for making the proxy easier to use -- a proxy bookmarklet and form for "un-proxying" a URL -- are available at http://www.lib.washington.edu/help/proxyTools.html.

*The old proxy service was discontinued as of  July 31, 2005.  To remove the old proxy server settings, follow these instructions to reconfigure your web browser.

Current UWB students, staff and faculty may also use the UW Internet Connectivity Kit (UWICK).
