Editing Pages in your Site
To edit a page, click on the Edit Page button to open the site editor. The rich text editor will appear below allowing you to easily add or modify text, insert links, add tables, as well as change the layout of the page. More advanced options such as embedding images or gadgets are found in the menu above the text editor. The menu consists of:
Insert: This menu allows you to insert links, images, and gadgets. You also can embed calendars, documents from Google Docs, videos from YouTube, Google Maps, as well as other gadgets from this menu. For a full video tutorial on how to embed images and video on Google Sites, click here.
Format: The format menu allows you to change the format of the selected text on the page.
Table: This menu lets you add tables to the page. Good for organizing numerical data.
Layout: You can change the layout of the page from this menu. Examples include adding more columns and/or sidebars to the page.
Below is a screen capture of a page in edit mode. The dotted lines indicate editable areas of the page. Clicking on the edit sidebar link will let you customize the links on the sidebar (see page management for deatails).
When an object (link, image, or gadget) is inserted in to the page, you can modify its settings by clicking on the object and the settings tooltip that appears. From here you can align the object to the left/right, wrap text around the object, change the width and height (may distort object), etc.
To add a file to a page, you can attach it to the page by clicking on the Attachments drop down section at the bottom of the page and adding the file. To edit the page in HTML mode, click on the HTML button in the toolbar to view and edit the source code of the page.
Once you have finished editing the page, make sure to click the Save button for the changes to take effect.
