Problem Using Firefox with Mac OSX

Problem

Mac OS X users may experience problems when trying to use Blackboard with Firefox. After an applet requests unrestricted access to the computer, the browser may freeze or won't allow the user to type in the boxes.

Solution

Mac users must check the box to Allow all applets from "bb.uwb.edu" access and click Allow. After this, restart Firefox to regain full functionality. The applet is safe and is used by Blackboard to enable math equations in the text boxes. Alternatively, Mac users can use the Safari browser when using Blackboard.

Cannot Delete Discussion Board Threads or Posts

Problem

Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and other related browsers will not delete a discussion board post even after you confirm that it should be deleted (this applies to discussion board moderators or when post deleting is enabled for students).

Solution

A workaround for Windows users is to use Internet Explorer to delete posts. Apple users must delete the comments by checking them in Tree View (faculty | students) and then clicking the delete button. Alternatively, you can modify the post and erase its contents.
