Middle Level Math 012*
Middle Level Science 013
*Since September 1, 2014, the Middle Level MATH WEST-E will no longer offered. It has been replaced with the NES Middle Grades Mathematics test. However, if you already took the WESTE Middle Level Math test prior to September 1, 2014 it will still be accepted toward earning the Middle Level Math endorsement. (The other two Middle Level endorsements will continue to use the WESTE tests until further notice.)
All candidates for Middle Level endorsements are required to pass the appropriate WEST-E test before they begin the Middle Level Placement in Spring quarter (see Step 3) at the end of the program.
Step 2. Register for UW Bothell course B EDUC 480 "Middle School Learners"
"Middle School Learners" is a 3 credit, undergraduate course offered at UW Bothell. This course is taught Spring quarter, and meets once a week in the evenings. This course is required for the Middle Level Endorsement.
Step 3. Successfully participate in a Placement Spring quarter following the K-8 Teacher Certification Program
All UW Bothell School of Educational Studies candidates for Middle Level endorsements will be observed teaching in a Middle or Junior High School classroom setting. Placements in these classrooms will be arranged by Jon Howeiler, Certification Officer and Field Placement Coordinator. Education Program Field Instructors and Cooperation Teachers will each perform one of these observations over the duration of the placement.
