Try Something New - We can help!

The second most used tool in the Makerspace is our laser cutter and engraver.  This tool can cut and engrave flat surfaces up to 3/4 of an inch thick (ask about thicker or curved surfaces.)  Most people use 1/4 inch thick plywood sheets to make signs or memorabilia for loved ones, but there are endless possibilities.  One of your fellow students engraved lenses for his car's projector headlights.  Another engraved personalized frisbee disks.

One of our newest tools is our routing mills.  These can carve and cut into surfaces without scorching edges or designs for fresher looks.  The mills are able to safely carve denser materials as well!  Ask a staff member for help or ideas.

Hungry to learn more about making?  We have hand tools, a drill press, and a soldering iron as well.  We (the staff) can teach you how to use these tools even if you haven't figured out what you want to make just yet.  Simply ask during staff hours.
