The UWB Makerspace is a creative environment with the equipment needed for curricular and co-curricular maker endeavors. Located on the first floor of Discovery Hall, the Makerspace is a free resource for students, faculty, and staff.

Do you love the Makerspace?  Volunteer Fall 2017!

We are now accepting applications for volunteers.  Click here to apply! Please bring printed applications to staff during Makerspace hours or email completed form to Imowen@uw.edu.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn in depth about the makerspace tools, spend time in the Makerspace weekly, and get experience teaching and interacting with makerspace equipment.  Volunteers who commit to at least two volunteer hours per week, will have an opportunity to recieve quarterly locker space in Discovery Hall.  All experience levels are welcome to volunteer, so apply now!

New to the world of Makers?  Please drop in when you have time for basic knowledge and skills workshops.  These workshops will cover what you will need to know to start using the equipment in the Makerspace, and can be performed by any staff member.  Simply ask to learn about the space.

Welcome back Fall 2017!

It was a fun and buzzy summer!  We hope you all caught yourselves a break.  This summer we were able to get some new equipment.  What's new?

  • We have a Button Press for all your co-curricular button making needs!
  • We also have a small scale vinyl cutter.  You can use this for many vinyl projects, but we recommend making stickers.  Want to deck out your car in new decals? This machine can cut stickers very precisely.
  • Also new is four Printrbot 3D printers.  They print over a cloud service so no SD card transfer is necessary.  These increase our capacity for printer use.

Come check it all out! And, in case you missed it, we also have sewing machines in the space.  Now, you can patch up ripped clothing and create new cloth pieces in a stitch.  We hope you have a rewarding Autumn quarter, and we'll see you in the Makerspace!

Register for Maker Fest Now!

Fest Logo

The Makerspace is holding a Maker Fest in the ARC overlook early Spring Quarter and we would love for all of you to participate! The Maker Fest will be an event where participants can showcase and educate visitors about things they have made or created. Students of all disciplines and majors are welcome to participate. This event will be a great opportunity to get inspired, share ideas, and network with the creative community found on our campus. Reserving a space will be restricted to UWB Students, staff, and faculty, but we encourage the local community to come and join on the day of the event.

Registration for the Maker Fest is now available. Register to display things you've made, or simply let us know you will attend.

Try Something New - We can help!

Did you know that most people come to the Makerspace to 3D print?  This is a cool technology that becomes increasingly more relevant to jobs and production.

Did you know the UWB Makerspace has four different kinds of 3D printers? If you have tried one of our Flashforge Printers, ask a staff member if you can learn to use the Orion Delta, the Ultimaker 2, or the giant Wanhao printer now on the Makerspace floor.

Keep reading to learn about more tools the Makerspace has to offer.
