Apply Now to be a Graduate Student Senator
ASUWB is seeking qualified candidates for their Graduate Student Senator. This is an outstanding opportunity to network with other students, build relationships with campus administration, and advocate for policy and social change on campus. Student government’s mission is to serve as the official representative voice for all students at UWB and empower students. Highlights of the senator responsibilities include:
Attend all Senate meetings;
Make regular reports of Senate business available to their constituents;
Work with other members of the Senate to execute all ASUWB events;
Follow up with students about specific issues and needs and direct comments to the appropriate administration, faculty, or staff member with the help of the ASUWB Senate;
Vote on legislation and action items that come up at Senate meetings;
Develop and implement surveying methods to get constituents involved, informed, and provide information for ASUWB decisions and actions;
Sit on committees, councils, and other forms of ASUWB representation on or off campus;
Candidate registrations are due on October 24th at noon, with mandatory candidate meeting at 3 pm. Campaigning will begin on October 27th, and voting will end on November 7th. Elected senators will serve November 10th through the end of the academic year. More information about available positions, timeline of elections, and candidate registration is available online.

UWB Names First Don Whitney Memorial Scholar
For her outstanding academic performance and lifelong leadership in community service, University of Washington Bothell MBA student Jen Landry becomes the first recipient of the Don Whitney Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded through the university’s School of Business. Cultural Studies student Dominique Garcia wins Latino Scholars Graduate School Fellowship
IAS Master of Arts in Cultural Studies student Dominique Garcia won a Latino Scholars Graduate School Fellowship. Established with the support of faculty members and community leaders, the new fellowship is intended to provide financial assistance to graduate students who have a demonstrated commitment to Latino communities.
Student Academic Enhancement Fund (SAEF) Award
UW Bothell students have the opportunity to apply for travel funds from the Student Academic Enhancement Fund (SAEF), established by the Services and Activities Fee Committee and administered by ASUWB. Awards of up to $1,500 are available to help fund students’ educational travel. A complete application, including a letter of recommendation, must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the first day of the event. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. You may be contacted for clarification and may be asked to present your proposal to ASUWB.
