Julie Shayne, Camille Walsh, and Alka Kurian participate in the 2014 National Women’s Studies Association

November 17, 2014 - IAS faculty members Julie Shayne, Camille Walsh, and Alka Kurian participated in the 2014 National Women’s Studies Association in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Shayne presented papers on “Researching Activism and Archiving Justice in the Americas” and “Feminist Mentoring and Undergraduate Research,” and was honored at a book reception for her new book Taking Risks: Feminist Activism and Research in the Americas organized by SUNY press.  Walsh co-presented on “Restorative Justice and Sexual Assault Cases on College Campuses” with the Director of the University of Oregon Women’s Center.  Kurian presented "Punishment By Rape: Gender and Citizenship through the Prism of Caste-discrimination and Sexual Violence" and read an excerpt from her novel A Bitter Inheritance at the conference’s open mike session.
