MA in Cultural Studies students present at Critical Geography Conference

February 20, 2014 - IAS MA in Cultural Studies student Ronnie Thibault and Cultural Studies alumni Kaelyn Caldwell and Amanda Kercmar presented their research on a panel on “Representation” at the 20th Annual Critical Geography Conference at the University of Colorado Boulder.  Thibault talked about “Mapping the Cultural Production of the Commodified Child Sponsorship Subject.” Caldwell spoke on “Trekking Along the World Vision International Empowerment-Commodity Aid Chain.”  Kercmar discussed “Digitally Mapping the Commodity-Aid Chain of Child Sponsorship Programs.”  All three of the projects were launched as part of a collaborative commodity chain mapping assignment in IAS faculty member Ben Gardner’s graduate class on “Globalization and Development” in winter 2013.
