micha cárdenas | Poetic Operations: Inclusive Design and Media Art Strategies for Resisting Fascism in the US

IAS faculty member micha cárdenas recently completed a short residency at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During the residency, she spoke in Jeanine Ruhsam's course, did a performance of her Pregnancy poems, held a public workshop with the Reproductive Justice Certificate Program on reproductive justice for transgender women and gave a public lecture titled "Poetic Operations: Inclusive Design and Media Art Strategies for Resisting Fascism in the US.”  The lecture focused on recent projects developed in cárdenas' lab at the University of Washington Bothell, the Poetic Operations Collaborative, all of which advance strategies used in her artwork to reduce violence and increase health for marginalized groups including trans women of color, gender non-conforming people, Black people and women more broadly.
