Returner Housing Selection Night
To apply for housing, please fill out the application(s) found here: www.uwb.edu/housing/login. Current residents need to submit a completed application for 12 month or Academic (9 month) Agreement NO LATER than March 30th, 2017. Any application received after this date will not be considered for priority housing and will remain on a waitlist.
As indicated below, applications for Summer agreements remain open for current residents through May 15.
There are three types of housing agreements. To see rate comparisons, please check the billing website at www.uwb.edu/housing/billing. Please see the description for each agreement type below.
12 month housing agreements cover all four academic quarters beginning with Summer quarter and ending with Spring quarter (June-June). This agreement also comes with a loyalty discount which offers students a reduced Summer rate for those committing to living on campus for 12 months.
Academic (9 month) housing agreements cover Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters. This agreement runs from the Friday prior to the start of Autumn quarter (September) and ends on the Friday of Spring quarter (June).
Summer housing agreements cover Summer A and B term. This allows students to continue living on campus after Spring quarter through the end of Summer term B, which ends in August each year. The application timeline for Summer runs on an extended timeline for those students still determining if Summer is the right option for them and remains open longer, until May 15 each year.
All returning residents who complete an application submitted by the above priority deadline will be sent a housing offer prior to the Returner Housing Selection Night. This offer is for a room within the housing program to be reserved for you. There is a window of time and specific date each year that this offer needs to be responded by, either accepted or declined. Any housing offer not responded to will be marked as a declined offer and not reserved. Returning students are not required to pay another $500 deposit to accept the housing offer. All accepted housing offers will then be invited to participate in the Returner Housing Selection Night. This year that date is Thursday, April 6, at 6pm.
Returner Housing Selection Night invitation will include the following details:
Lottery Number. This applies the order in which your name will be called to select the unit/room type available to you.
Room Type. This refers to the room types you will be able to select from at Returner Selection Night. Triple and Double rooms will be available to all residents as space is available, however, a single room will only be available to students who were offered a single room in their Lottery announcement. Please see the room layouts below for further details in helping select an option best for you.
Proxy Information. If you are not able to attend the Returner Housing Selection Night, you can fill out the Proxy Form and give the information needed to select the specific unit and room type desired.
Any student who has accepted their housing offer and does not select a room at Returner Housing Selection Night, either personally or by proxy, will automatically be assigned a room after the event.
Roommates may be requested in the housing application. During Returner Housing Selection Night, roommates will select their assignment together using the lowest lottery number.
Note that any open bed in a unit will be filled with a future student, either returner or new incoming student. A bed cannot be reserved for a prospective or future roommate. All roommates must be present or have a proxy in order to select a room.
Each year Residential Life puts on a Roommate Mixer just prior to the Returner Housing Selection Night event for students looking for additional/new roommates. This event helps connect current residents with other residents looking for a good living fit and introduces them to others looking for a roommate as well! This event takes place at 5pm, April 6th, 2017.
Room layouts are specific to unit and type. Available room types are Singles, Doubles, and Triples. Please note that those specifically wanting to live with just one roommate will need to select a Campus View unit, as those are the only two person occupancy units available. Below are the layout comparisons.
TRIPLE ROOMS (gold): Three students share a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom unit. The bedroom configuration consists of a bunk bed and a single bed, and wardrobe closet in addition to the desks and three drawer dressers found in other units.
SINGLE ROOMS (red): A student will have their own room within a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom unit. Please note this is the most commonly requested room type and have limited inventory.
DOUBLE ROOMS (green & purple): Two students share a room in either one of three different unit configurations. The green option, which is Campus View only, is the only available option where 2 students share an entire unit. The two Husky Village options, highlighted in purple, are available in the 2 bedroom 1 bathroom and the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom configurations.
