EC minutes from past meetings were approved:

January 22, 2003 - approved unanimously
February 5, 2003 - approved unanimously with corrections
February 19, 2003 - approved unanimously with corrections
March 5, 2003 - approved unanimously
March 17, 2003 - approved unanimously with corrections
April 14, 2003 - approved unanimously with corrections
April 28, 2003 - approved unanimously with corrections
May 12, 2003 - approved unanimously
May 19, 2003 - approved unanimously with corrections

The Faculty Council on Promotion and Tenure election results:

Dan Jacoby, IAS Carol Leppa, Nursing Kevin Laverty, Business Paul Collins (Business) and Constantin Behler (IAS) received equal votes. Carole will contact both to decide who will serve.

Reflect on the past year and plan for the future.

A discussion on the achievements of the EC and future goals of the EC follows:

EC Achievements

GFO Web site was improved and expanded
5-for-5 initiative started
Secured new office and full time staff support
Enhanced ASUWB involvement with the EC and GFO
President's Medal legislation passed after vigorous discussion
First faculty job satisfaction survey conducted.
Salary issue was discussed by the Faculty Affairs committee.

Goals/Improvements

Enhance faculty participation.
5-for-5 will occupy a central role.
Work with GFO committees to create effective structure.
Revisit the voting rights and benefits for lecturers

Announcements

The faculty retreat is to be chaired by Walt Freytag. Carole discussed the use of remaining GFO funds to provide some summer money for this year's faculty retreat committee, the Academic Strategic Action Initiatives Committee, the previous chair of the Tri-campus Council, and the coordinator of the Distinguished Lecture seminar. The EC concurred that this would be good use of the remaining GFO budget.
