Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

What do you mean by "hybrid program"?     Our BSEE Program is designed to be accessible to "non-traditional" students (working students, students from remote areas of the state, returning students, etc.).  One of the ways we accommodate those students is to offer as many courses as we can online.  As of now, the entire EE program is not available in a distance learning (online) environment so additionally we offer our on-site courses in the evenings as much as possible in order to better accommodate our working students.

What is your ABET accreditation status?     The BSEE Program is modeled after ABET-approved programs, but we cannot apply for review until we graduate our first cohort of students.  Our program began Winter 2010 and we expect to begin the review process approximately 2 years from that date.  However, the program's pre-accreditation status limits the ability of students and graduates interested in obtaining professional engineer licensure in Washington State to use their educational experience to satisfy requirements for taking the fundamentals of engineering examination, registering as an engineer-in-training, and registering as a licensed professional engineer.

Licensure requirements vary by state. For more information about engineering licensure in the state of Washington, please visit http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/engineerslandsurveyors/elreq.html.

What is the minimum GPA (grade point average) I need to apply to Electrical Engineering?     UW Bothell's Science & Technology program does not set a minimum GPA other than what is listed under the application/admissions requirements.  Please be aware that EE is an extremely competitive program and students are considered based on a wide variety of criteria including: GPA (broken down into cumulative GPA as well as within prerequisite coursework), personal statement, grade trends, and other factors of UW Bothell's holistic review process.

Will my credits transfer to UW Bothell's BSEE Program?     Please read the information listed under "Community College Equivalences" and "Prerequisites".  If you would like an advisor to go over your individual transcript and answer specific questions, please call our Information Desk at (425) 352-5000 to schedule an appointment (either in-person or via phone) with our advisor, Dani Dutro
