In an effort to make it easier to report your SPAM (unwanted email) to Information Technologies, we have built a public folder named:
This folder will show up in your public folders at the very bottom of your Outlook folder list under Public Folders.
We urge you to report all unwanted email no matter how questionable the content. The more SPAM you report, the more our filters will be able to
block. To report SPAM, simply move the message to the _SPAM Drop Box_ . Please refer below to Moving SPAM to the SPAM Drop Box for detailed instructions.
Items deposited in this folder will not be viewable by anyone, including the user who deposited the SPAM, with the exception of system administrators who
update our SPAM filters.
If you put something in the drop box by mistake, please contact the Helpdesk and the email message will be recovered for you. If you
have any further questions or concerns please contact the Helpdesk at (425) 352-3456 or e-mail IT@uwb.edu.
There are two different options for moving your SPAM to the _SPAM Drop Box_. You may either "manually move" it or "drag and drop" it. Directions for both options are provided below.
Open your Outlook program.
Right click on the message you believe is SPAM but was not marked, then select Move to folder.
In the "Move Items" window, scroll to the bottom of your Folder List until you find Public folders, click the "+" to expand this.
Click the "+" next to All Public Folders to expand that folder list.
Click _SPAM Drop Box_ to highlight it, then click OK.
Open the Outlook program. Go to the Folder List and click on the mailbox folder containing the message you believe is SPAM. (In this example, we are clicking Inbox.) The folder's contents should appears in your right Outlook Pane.
Go to the Folder List and scroll to the bottom of the Folder List window until you see Public Folders. Click the "+" to expand Public Folders.
Click the "+" to expand All Public Folders.
Click and hold the mouse button with your cursor on the envelope icon of the message you would like to report (that was not marked as SPAM) and drag
the message over to the _SPAM Drop Box_ folder and then release the mouse button to drop the message into the _SPAM Drop Box_ folder.
