More than 1,400 degrees were conferred during UW Bothell’s 22nd Commencement Ceremony, held June 17 in Seattle. The Commencement speaker was Dr. Oscar Arias, two-time president of Costa Rica and Nobel Laureate.
Arias outlined three things that the Class of 2013 could teach the world.
- Teach us to bind the borders that keep one nation from another. The fate of one people is impossible to separate from others.
- Teach us to use our power to alleviate human suffering.
- You - not your parents or grandparents know how to use technology to change the world. Teach us that the ability to set the course for humanity is no longer in the hands of the few. Teach us to use these tools to make a difference.
