Chancellor's Medalist

Each year an undergraduate is recognized by the Chancellor at Commencement for his or her extraordinary achievement as a student at UW Bothell.

This award recognizes an individual who:

has been a consistent source of inspiration for faculty and fellow students alike
has achieved a good academic record overall or one that shows consistent improvement concluding at a good level
has overcome significant obstacles or endured major burdens in order to attend UWB and to complete a bachelor's degree program

Nomination letters should be delivered to the Chancellor's Office, Building 1, Suite 260 by April 4 and should be:

No more than 2 pages in length
and Address the "fit" between the nominee and the characteristics listed above, especially - "a consistent source of inspiration for faculty and fellow students alike."

Student Commencement Speaker

The Commencement Ceremony Committee invites nominations from students, faculty, and staff for this year's Student Commencement Speaker.

Selection criteria for this honor include:

high academic achievement
distinctive contributions to the life of the campus community and/or distinctive service in comparable off-campus civic or professional affairs

The nominated candidate must also have a reasonable expectation of completing all graduation requirements by the end of Spring term. Commencement for 2008 is scheduled for Sunday, June 15, at the Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington.

To be considered, nominations must be in writing and accompanied by a brief statement of support. In addition to referring to the above criteria, this statement should name two or three faculty or staff members who are well acquainted with the candidate's academic performance and community/ civic/professional contributions.

Nominations of candidates should be submitted to Lisa Walker, Public Relations and Communications, UW1 Room 281 or via e-mail at lwalker@uwb.edu by Monday, April 7. The Student Commencement Speaker will be selected by the Commencement Ceremony Committee and announced to the campus community in the spring quarter.
