Chemistry Major Admission Prerequisites

UW Bothell students can be accepted into the program in their sophomore year. For acceptance into the major, students must have completed each of the prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of 2.0 in each course and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for all courses required for admission. At time of declaration of the Chemistry major, students should indicate which degree/option they are intending to pursue: BS in Chemistry, BS in Chemistry with Biochemistry option, or BA in Chemistry. 

The admission requirements into the Chemistry majors are the same for all three degrees. Admission is competitive and completion of the minimum requirements, described below, does not guarantee admission.

UW Bothell Mathematics Prerequisites

  • ST MATH 124 - Calculus I 
  • ST MATH 125 - Calculus II
  • ST MATH 126 - Calculus III

UW Bothell Chemistry Prerequisites

  • B CHEM 143 - General Chemistry I w/ lab
  • B CHEM 153 - General Chemistry II w/ lab
  • B CHEM 163 - General Chemistry III w/ lab
  • B CHEM 237 - Organic Chemistry I

Prerequisites for Transfer Students

Transfer students can be accepted directly into the major with certain minimum courses. Please consult with an advisor for more information. Each course should have a minimum grade of 2.0 and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 for all courses required for admission. At time of declaration of the Chemistry major, students should indicate which degree/option they are intending to pursue: BS in Chemistry, BS in Chemistry with Biochemistry option, or BA in Chemistry.

The admission requirements into the major are the same for all three degrees. Admissions are competitive and completion of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
