UW Bothell Initiatives Group (UWBIG)

The UW Bothell Initiatives Group (UWBIG) was established by the Chancellor to consider strategic proposals for one-time financial support and make recommendations regarding funding. To be considered, requests must be eligible for funding under state budget guidelines and should be limited to one-time expenditures that fall outside of the annual budget development timeline.  Selection for a UWBIG award does not imply any future budget commitment; longer-term or follow-up proposals must go through the regular budget process. The goal of UWBIG is not to replace the existing budgeting process, but to support innovative initiatives that require temporary mid-cycle funding in order to succeed. Requests may come from any individual or group on campus, inclusive of students, staff, or faculty, and should include the following:

  • a detailed outline of the strategic proposal, framed in terms of the campus mission, 21st Century Campus Initiative goals, or Chancellor's strategic goals; a detailed line-item budget should be included
  • a statement describing how the proposed initiative would benefit the campus community as a whole or specific groups on campus
  • a rationale for bringing the proposal to UWBIG, rather than to an existing academic, administrative, or student group
  • a justification for the timing of the request (why now?)
  • an outline of the measurable outcomes for success

UWBIG will receive proposals via online form and may request additional information or meetings with proposal writers as part of deliberations.

Meetings have been scheduled through June 2015. Please submit your proposal by the due date indicated below for consideration at that month's meeting. (*new date)
