Community gathering and safety discussion

Like all of you, I am heartbroken from the tragic events affecting our colleagues at North Seattle College and Umpqua Community College. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been touched by these events.

Tragic events always raise concerns and questions and I want to provide a forum for discussion and questions. I invite the entire campus community to a gathering on Monday, October 5, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the North Creek Events Center to discuss the most recent events and any concerns. We will have representatives from Campus Safety, Emergency Preparedness, the Bothell Police Department, Care Team, Counseling and UW SAFE Campus on hand to answer any questions you may have, inform you of the ongoing work toward a safe campus, and to assist anyone in need.

I am frequently asked the safety procedures and resources on our own campus. The Bothell Police Department serves as our first responder. Currently, the police department is providing extra coverage of the campus, housing, Beardslee Building and Beardslee Crossings offices. In addition, our campus safety and emergency preparedness offices, and the police department are collaborators in our comprehensive campus safety plan.

Our Campus Safety page has a wealth of information on our safety procedures, emergency preparedness and more.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
