Invitation to dialogue

The past couple of years have been difficult for many in our campus community, and the election year further heightened emotions and fractured trusts. Our campus is an inclusive and welcoming community of learning. We have to do better. Let’s stand up and commit to doing this together. Let’s work hard to rebuild the trust. Now is the time to come together, take care of each other, respect one another and show simple kindness. It goes a long way.

In an effort to support our community, there are events taking place around campus. Below are two that are taking place this afternoon. I want to keep the conversation going, so plan on seeing more opportunities shared in email and social media. We can only do this together.

Professor Charusheela from IAS will hold an informal gathering in Common Grounds from 3:30 to 5 p.m. This is a time to support all our students, especially our Muslim students, immigrant students and undocumented students.

Also, Student Affairs is hosting a post-election discussion today, 3:30-4:30pm in the Idea Project. This is a non-partisan discussion open to everyone. The Idea Project is a safe space for diverse viewpoints. Please attend and share your hopes, fears and thoughts.
