May 7th, 2008 promises to be an exciting day at the University of Washington Bothell/Cascadia Community College. The Community Partnerships Fair will showcase the efforts of students, faculty and staff in the area of service learning, as well as provide our collocated institutions with an opportunity to honor the commitment of our partners in the community. We are planning a multi-modal and multi-media event involving poster sessions, films, performances, wiki demonstrations, storytelling workshops and panel discussions. There will be food, music, and a recognition ceremony for our community partners at 6:00 pm featuring Dr. Bill Christopher, President of Cascadia Community College, and Dr. Kenyon Chan, Chancellor of the University of Washington Bothell.
3:00 pm - 3:30 pm Forum Theater
Social justice through art and improvisation.
Karen Gourdâan assistant professor in the UW Bothell Education departmentâand her theater troupe demonstrate and discuss forum theater as a tool for community-based teaching and learning as envisioned by Brazilian dramatist Augusto Boal.
3:30 pm - 4:10 pm Woodin Elementary Community Psychology Project
How can groups do effective community-based work?
Come learn about a community-based project designed to foster positive peer interactions and inclusivityâimplemented and sustained by a cohort of UW Bothell Community Psychology students.
4:15 pm - 4:55 pm Mentoring: Get Involved!
Do mentors matter in your life?
This panel discussion will examine the importance of mentoring work, and will highlight the efforts of Cascadia Community College/UW Bothell mentor volunteers and the organizations they serve.

Want to learn more about local food and sustainable living?
Students, faculty, staff, and a representative from 21 Acresâa local agricultural learning centerâdiscuss our ongoing collaboration with 21 Acres and its value to CCC/UW Bothell and to people in the region.
