The BEC provides students with on-the-job experience and an opportunity to use skills learned in the classroom to help area businesses solve problems. Walt Freytag, Vice President of the BEC and Director of the Business Development Center at the University of Washington Bothell assists students in identifying programs or projects such as strategic management plans, operation management, and applied projects within organizations. Projects are completed through effective teamwork and culminate in a diagnostic report and/or recommendation followed by a presentation attended by business executives, faculty and fellow students. Many companies later implement the recommendations and programs designed by students. Some recent community partners include: Bellevue Community College, City University, Bellevue Camber of Commerce, City of Bellevue, King County, Port of Seattle, Community Capital Development, KeyBank, American Family Insurance, Verizon, Washington Mutual, Eastside Commercial Bank, Sterling Realty, Circle of Friends, and SCORE.
