Elaine Dondoyano completed her hours!

Elaine served at Kimball Elementary School in Seattle, which is a Title 1 school with a high number of immigrant and low income families. The students in her classroom have family backgrounds from Africa, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Europe and Latin America.
She joined Students in Service because it was an opportunity for her to serve by student teaching and volunteering in a meaningful way while earning a stipend for her school expenses. Through her service, she has gained experience working in a diverse school, and this hopefully will make her not only a better candidate for hiring but also a more effective teacher. She has completed her committed 450 volunteer hours.
Congratulations Elaine!
Claire Weaver

Claire Weaver is a Junior at UWB in the IAS Global Studies BA program. She is excited to be studying in Paris this summer. Beyond attending school she plays the cello and sings jazz vocals for various Seattle bands. Additionally, she is employed at the Lyon's Den in Bothell. Her involvement for the Students in Service Program currently includes volunteering at the Little Bit Therapeutic Horse Ranch, which she has been doing since December. She says it a wonderful place where both kids and adults experience the therapeutic benefits of riding and being around horses.
