U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell Internship

An Internship in one of Senator Maria Cantwell’s Washington State offices offers individuals an opportunity to serve the public through the federal government. Internships are available throughout the year and typically last 10-12 weeks. Interns get an inside view of the way a congressional office operates and are provided with ample opportunities to develop professional skills and explore careers in public service.

Responsibilities include fielding constituent requests, communicating with federal government agencies, administrative processing within the office, and occasional research projects. The main focus of this work will be on Constituent Services, or Casework, which assists Washington State residents with federal agencies.

Internships are available throughout the year and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Hours and schedules are negotiable but a regular weekly schedule must be arranged and interns are asked for a commitment of at least 12 hours/week. School schedules on both the semester and quarter systems can be accommodated. All positions are unpaid; however, school credit may be available pending approval by the respective college or university.
