03/29/2018 Social Media and Marketing Intern Homeward Pet | Woodinville, WA Homeward Pet Adoption Center is a leading nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter in the Pacific Northwest. This internship is best suited for students with communications experience interested in animal welfare. Students will report directly to the Marketing & Communications Specialist. Opportunities are available to deepen understanding of social media engagement, brand management, copy writing and editing, and graphic design, along with shadow opportunities for other career avenues in animal welfare. Additionally, Homeward Pet provides an excellent dog-to-person ratio, far exceeding other places of work. Responsibilities Social Media Brainstorming, creating, editing, and posting timely and engaging content to social media channels Collecting and analyzing social media engagement and conversion metrics Assisting with monitoring social media pages for appropriate conduct and on-brand messaging Communications Assisting with preparation of press releases and other media content Writing website and newsletter feature stories Sitting in with interviews and other opportunities as they arise Design Creating flyers, marketing materials, social media graphics, and other material for distribution to Homeward Pet supporters Qualifications Required Working toward or recently completed a college degree in a related field (Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or English) Experience using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn Effective communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to tailor a message to a specific audience Self-motivated, organized, and able to prioritize deadlines appropriately Familiarity with Microsoft Office Love of cats and dogs Desired Experience with graphic design programs (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or Canva) a plus Experience with Wordpress Basic video editing and videography skills Start Date: Early summer (June preferred). Requires a three to six month commitment with option to extend to a full year.
