One of the most important and toughest questions to answer is, "How do I get a job after graduation?" and if you're already asking it, you are halfway there. Now comes the tough part, applying and getting one. There is no Yellow Brick Road towards getting a job, but there are general guidelines, resources, and tools available to you at the UWB to help you get a job. My strategy involved the UWB Career Center, professors, Husky Jobs, and recent alumni.

An excellent place to start is to make an appointment with the Career Center and update your Cover Letter and Resume. Before I went in, I thought that I had a pretty good cover letter and resume...at the end of my appointment, only my name, contact information, and major stayed the same! After you update your cover letter and resume, ask your professors about what jobs someone can get with this degree. I majored in Business Administration with a Finance concentration, so I applied to Financial Analyst, Accounting, and Audit positions. As a result, I'm now an internal auditor for Weyerhaeuser.

See if the jobs that your professors recommend fit with what you like to do. Also, talk to your friends and other recent graduates to see what they did. Finally, after you find out your interests, apply to those positions at Husky Jobs. I got all my interviews and job offers through Husky Jobs. If I could donate money to them, I would! Apply to all the positions that you like and to those that you think you may like as well. It doesn't hurt to apply to a lot of different jobs...you don't want to look back in hindsight wishing that you applied because it's better to look back and be grateful you did. After all, the worst thing that can happen is that you don't hear back and the best thing is that they will offer you a job. So, applying for a lot of jobs only benefits you.

To sum up what I did and what I recommend (while this may not guarantee you a job, it most certainly will help):
1.  Make an appointment with the Career Center and have your cover letter and resume updated.
2.  Talk with your professors, friends, and alumni about jobs in the market and what they are doing.
3.  Apply to all the jobs that interest you on Husky Jobs.
