One of the best decisions I made for myself was switching colleges after the first two years and attending UW Bothell. I was immediately amazed at the quality and depth of the business program and the student centered atmosphere. The variety of options and prestigious curriculum, flexible class schedules that allowed me to work and go to school, and experience I received working with other local businesses in the community on school projects prepared me professionally in my career.
I graduated from UW Bothell with my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Finance. I immediately started working as an analyst at Washington Mutual’s Treasury department for 4 ½ years where I was able to use my degree and previous experience working in banking to manage all internal bank accounts, fees, balances, and work with internal and external stakeholders on projects. I currently work at Amazon as a project manager in Treasury Cash Management leading a team of 3 on new business initiative projects globally for all business lines and mergers and acquisitions.
My advice to current and future students is to start thinking early on what it is that you want to do after college and drive your focus in school as much as possible on your dream. Networking is key in today’s marketplace – build relationships with your professors and those in your program and Career Center. I look at many resumes and cannot stress more the importance in building one that is clean, clear, and concise and then being able to speak about your experience while being engaging. Personality matters more than people realize.
