06/08/2017 ASN Navigation Assistant Bellevue College - Bellevue, Washington The Autism Spectrum Navigators program is an innovative program at Bellevue College that offers autistic students supports and services that deliver ADA-required accommodations. The program strives to ensure that the Bellevue College autistic population has equal access to student services and academics. Navigation Assistants play a major role in this through serving as peer mentors to ASN students (navigators). Main Duties and Responsibilities: Meet with assigned ASN students (navigators) each week to complete weekly checklists and support student access to academics and campus services; During meetings with students, utilize Collaborative Problem Solving to address barriers to success; Maintain contact with students on a regular basis to support access to academics and campus services; Track student attendance and participation; Accompany students to appointments with Bellevue College staff and faculty as needed, or support student in preparing for these appointments; Provide clear and accurate instructions for navigating Bellevue College programs, such as how to set up advising appointments, apply for graduation, join a club, check for holds on student accounts, and more; Send weekly reports of student meetings to ASN program manager and director; Attend weekly team training meetings with other navigation assistants, program manager, and director; Oversee study halls for ASN students as needed; Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Currently an enrolled (or recent graduate) university undergraduate junior or senior; Interest in Special Education, Psychology, Nursing, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or a related field; 1 or more years of previous work experience in any field; Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and problem solve student-related issues; Proficient at reading and writing; excellent composition, effective communication and interpersonal skills; Willingness to learn new skills; Have access to reliable transportation (Bellevue College is bus accessible); Ability to commit to work 10-15 hours per week for one academic year (fall, winter, and spring; breaks excluded) Pay rate: $15/hour Apply: Email your resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org For more information: https://www.bellevuecollege.edu/autismspectrumnavigators/jobs-and-volunteering/ Bellevue College is an Equal Opportunity Employer in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
