Student Assistant

School of STEM - UW Bothell

 

Serve as a resource for students, staff and faculty in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Responsibilities:

  • Staff the front desk of the Undergraduate Academic Services Office, School of STEM, responding to all in-person and phone inquiries.
  • Work closely with academic advisers in scheduling appointments.
  • Make appropriate referrals. 
  • Be familiar with STEM undergraduate academic programs/support services. 
  • Have a proactive understanding of School and University rules and regulations affecting a student’s progress toward a degree. 
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate filing system for all students in the School of STEM.
  • Maintain 100% confidentiality in working with student records (FERPA training required).
  • Assist in application and orientation preparation for advisors.
  • Provide registration assistance for STEM courses.
  • Work as a member of a team in keeping the workspace clean and organized.
  • Monitor and maintain information boards in hallway/building. 
  • Assist with quarterly events (may take place in the evening). 
  • Create, edit, update documents, flyers, etc.
  • Assist with data base maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Must be current UWB undergraduate and have attended at least 3 quarters at the UW prior to start date.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. 
  • Genuine interest in working with and helping fellow students. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse population of students and co-workers.
  • Possess a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 


Time Commitment and Salary:

  • 10-19.5 hours a week, including some weekday evenings until 6:00 
  • We require a one-year commitment 
  • $ 15 per hour
