Student Assistant - School of IAS

The School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences has an excellent opportunity for a motivated student to provide assistance in support of School office operations, publicity and events management for Academic Year 2017-18.

Job responsibilities and duties include:

IAS Administrative support, to include:

  1. Provide front desk coverage
  2. Perform general clerical duties
  3. Help schedule advising appointments
  4. Maintain orderly workspace/ front desk
  5. Other office-related duties and projects as assigned

IAS Publicity support, which may include:

  1. Flyer formatting and proofing
  2. Flyer distribution/posting

IAS events management assistance, to include:

  1. Room reservation requests and bookings;
  2. Tech support requests and follow-up;
  3. Picking up food;
  4. Event set-up, monitoring, and clean-up;
  5. Flyer creation and distribution;
  6. Filing and tracking
  7. Placing office supplies orders/ keeping inventory

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eager to work and contribute to the IAS mission
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Easily oriented and trained to the various position-related tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook
  • Readiness to commit to 12-19 hours each week for the academic year

Compensation: $15.30/hour, up to 19.5 hours per week

Appointment Duration: Academic Year, 2017-18 - (Late September 2017 through early June 2018) with possibility of rehire for Academic Year 2018-19
