Thank You to Pete Nye
We want to share with you that Pete Nye, Associate Professor at the UW Bothell School of Business, will be retiring. The UW Bothell School of Business community wishes him very well in his retirement and we want to take a moment to honor his legacy with our community and sincerely thank him for his service and leadership over the years.
For the benefit of the campus and so many new colleagues, Pete was part of the founding faculty of what is now the School of Business. At this time, the entire campus was contained in a leased building called Canyon Park (photo below). That group included Associate Professor Kevin Laverty, Professor P.V. (Sundar) Balakrishnan and Anne Ilinitch (now Anne York). This group came to our community with a vision for a glorious future. Today, with the retirement of Pete, that group must be honored and thanked for their immense contributions. We stand on the shoulders of these colleagues and their contributions.
Pete cares so much about the students and their experience and his legacy in our community is immense. A tireless advocate for students, Pete has been known to spend weekends and late nights mentoring students. He has pushed our thinking on how we approach education itself; has won teaching awards; led the very first study abroad program that was organized by our school (a trip to Ghana); helped deepen our passionate commitment to writing and invested himself in helping students through DECA. His efforts bore great results.
Pete has always been a great colleague. He has gone out of the way to help colleagues in need. Today, he is helping those who teach in the MBA program excel.
Thank you, Pete, for everything. We will always treasure what you gave this community and wish you the best on your next endeavors.
