Professor Brown's research interests focus on sociotechnical systems, examining the links between human and technical factors in operating environments. Her work has appeared in California Management Review, Interfaces, the Journal of Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, and many other publications. Dr. Brown is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Operations Management, and a member of the editorial review boards of the Academy of Management Review and Decision Sciences Journal. She has been certified as a PMP by the Project Management Institute. Dr. Brown has received recognition for excellence and innovation in teaching on numerous occasions. She has served as a consultant and seminar leader for several corporations in the Puget Sound area, and is a visiting faculty member at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai. She has also taught at IESE in Barcelona, Seattle University, and Northern Arizona University.
