About The Board
The expanded UW Bothell School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board provides strategic guidance, helps build external partnerships and deepens the school’s relationship with the business community. Spanning manufacturing, retail, aerospace, accounting, design, software, services, healthcare and consulting, volunteer board members bring their rich experience and broad expertise to bear on the advice they provide the school. Lisa Sharples - Former President
Lisa has been a senior manager in Internet companies since 1995 and held positions as SVP of Marketing, CMO, Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer, Founder, Board Member and President. In her most recent position she served as President of Allrecipes.com.
Tom Sulewski - Director of Auditing
A CPA, Tom is the shareholder in charge of Clark Nuber’s audit and assurance department. His leadership, efficiency, project management skills and keen ability to present profit opportunities to small businesses make him an invaluable asset to his clients.

Rusdi Kirana - Co-founder and Chairman
Rusdi Kirana is the Co-founder and Chairman of Lion Air, Indonesia’s largest private airline. Rusdi founded the company in 2000 with his brother. Kirana is a native of Indonesia. He is the father of three, including a daughter who is a student at UW Bothell.
Saurabh Sonawala - Managing Director
Saurabh Sonawala is the Managing Director of the Hinditron Group and has more than 25 years’ experience in IT and technology industries and 18 years’ experience managing Hinditron’s IT and other technology businesses.
Dustin Birashk - Partner
Dustin has been in public accounting since 1999 and specializes in audits of financial institutions and financial services companies. Dustin is proficient with community banks, credit unions, de novo institutions, mutual banks and SEC banks.
Lewis Carpenter - CEO
Lewis Carpenter is the Chief Executive Officer of Winshuttle. As CEO, he is responsible for leading all aspects of Winshuttle's global business. Lewis brings over 20 years of experience in building and leading successful companies.
Yi Ping (Y.P.) Chan - Principal
Y.P. has over 20 years of experience in business turnaround & restructuring, entrepreneurship, investment, JV & acquisitions, and executive education in Greater China and the United States. He was the CEO of a small public US company. Y.P. obtained both his MBA and MSEE degrees from Columbia University.
Todd Dean - Partner
Angel Market Consulting
A proven visionary and leader in the entrepreneurial investment community. His work translated into investments in over 104 companies, exceeding $61 million placed in start-up companies and other investment opportunities in the Northwest in 2005-2010.
Kristie Duffin - Head of IT
Kristie Duffin is currently the Head of IT for BMGI, an investment management firm. Previously, she was head of global CRM at BlackRock. Kristie has held a number of technology leadership positions with financial companies managing both in-house software development as well as technology infrastructure. She is a graduate of the UW Foster School of Business with both a BA and MBA.
Stan Emert - Founder
Stan Emert has hosted and produced over 1,000 live half-hour community television shows; hosted over 100 live radio shows; and spoken on corporate social responsibility before the American Film Institute, World Bank, and other venues.

Tony Gepner - Director, Management Consulting
Tony Gepner is the Director of Management Consulting for the CORTAC Group, overseeing all consulting services for clients in the Seattle area/western US. His expertise is in leadership, process reengineering, and program management. He is a certified Lean /Six Sigma Blackbelt, and most importantly, an alumni of the UW Bothell MBA program (2005).

Norm is a Principal at Berntson Porter & Company, a Certified Public Accounting and Consulting firm in Bellevue, WA. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts, Business Administration (concentration in accounting and finance.

Lisa is Founder and CEO of Simplicity Consulting, a marketing talent agency servicing Fortune 1000 companies.In 2011, Inc. It has been listed on Inc. 500/5000 as one of America's fastest growing private companies for three consecutive years.
Dr. Satbir Khanuja - Co-Founder, President & CEO
Dr. Satbir Khanuja obtained his B.Tech from IIT Bombay, and a PhD in Ceramics Engineering from MIT. He is the Co-Founder and the current President and CEO of DataSphere Technologies. He previously served as SecondSpace's senior vice president of marketing and business development, responsible for the company's partnership, traffic-building and revenue-generating initiatives. Prior to that, he played various executive roles at Amazon.com responsible for driving billions of dollars in sales through free and paid traffic to all Amazon.com websites worldwide. Previously, he was vice president and general manager of Amazon.com's IMDb.com and In-Theater businesses, where he created all business functions and built the division into one of the 50 most-trafficked websites in the world. Satbir started his business career as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company. He is a member of the board of directors of Digi International.
Julie Kouhia - CEO
Molbak’s Garden + Home
Julie Kouhia is the CEO of Molbak’s Garden + Home in Woodinville, Washington. Julie joined Molbak’s in 2006 as COO, has deep experience leading all aspects of Molbak’s retail operations. Prior to working at Molbak’s, Julie was a marketing executive at Starbucks and Amazon, for a combined seven years.
Julie has a passion for business and her specialties include increasing profitability, competitive advantage, and long-term value by growing/strengthening customer relationships and developing and delivering effective new business partnerships and programs.
Julie holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, a MA from University of Washington and a BA from Washington State University. She is active in many professional and community organizations including Woodinville Chamber Board of Directors, Garden Center Magazine Advisory Board and is a member of Vistage International for CEOs. A native of Washington, Julie is an avid walker and enjoys Pilates.
Jay Maloney - President
Maloney Aerospace Advisors
Jay Maloney is president of Maloney Aerospace Advisors. MAA provides strategic and tactical solution development and implementation to airlines, MROs, marine, theme parks, heavy machinery and other industries.
Jay is a 30 year aerospace veteran. He began his career in aviation and aerospace when, at the age of 16, he obtained his private pilot's license. Jay worked as a licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic while attending Parks Aeronautical College. After graduation, Jay instructed at the college before accepting a position at Continental Airlines in Pilot Training. His career then took him to the Pacific Northwest working for Alaska Airlines, where he rose to the position of Director of Engineering.
Jay’s next journey took him to Boeing. As a Boeing executive, he co-founded a new line of aftermarket services for Boeing Commercial Services. These service offerings set in motion the lifecycle services programs that transitioned into Boeing Global Services. At Boeing, he was instrumental in architecting new program offerings and new services platforms while providing leadership and oversight of integrated teams consisting of sales, contracts, legal, marketing and supplier management. After 17 years of dedicated service, Jay retired from Boeing in 2017.

Chad Miller is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance practice where he serves clients in a number of sectors with an emphasis on financial services. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
Phillip "Flip" Morse - SVP, Corporate Resources
Flip Morse is Senior Vice President at Nintendo of America Inc. He oversees all Human Resource functions. Flip is very active in charitable causes, currently serving as board president of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Puget Sound Affiliate.

He has 28 years of experience, and has held previous positions with Charles Schwab & Co., including Managing Director for Schwab Private Client Services and Branch Manager in Bellevue, WA. Rob is both alumni and an Adjunct Faculty member of the University of Washington Bothell School of Business, where he teaches Investments and Corporate Finance and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Business Administration with concentrations in both Finance and International Business.
